Silver Lake Management District
On behalf of the Silver Lake Protection Association Board, and the SLPA Lake District Committee, we are extremely pleased to announce our Silver Lake Management District is a reality.
A brief timeline of what occurred in 2021:
· August 9, 2021: the Village of Salem Lakes unanimously approved the inclusion of its territory within the boundaries of the proposed District.
· August 11, 2021: a public hearing on our Petition was conducted by the Kenosha County Planning, Development & Extension Education Committee (PDEEC), who voted unanimously to send our request to the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors for approval.
· On August 17, 2021: the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved our request to form the Silver Lake Management District.
Going forward, the next step, as outlined in Chapter 33 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, will be to form the Silver Lake Management District’s Board of Commissioners. That process includes:
· The County Board’s approval of a resolution appointing four Commissioners to the SLMD Board: 3 Property Owners and 1 County Representative: John Coffey, Harry Laws, Jim Purinton, Donna Kubik
· The Village of Salem Lakes Board’s appointment of its representative, Theodore Kmiec.
As you know, it has been over a year since the SLPA Board charged a group of lakefront property owners with the task of researching the feasibility of a Lake District for Silver Lake. And, here we are today, officially announcing the Silver Lake Management District, because 82% of lakefront property owners were onboard with their findings. We are most appreciative of the time and efforts of these dedicated homeowners. We now have a vehicle to oversee the health, safety, and well-
